Just as plants have the capacity to bring scented flowers to life, as black rock can crystalize into a glittering diamond, and as an egg can grow to become a captivating dancing peacock, you too can transcend into an Authentic Self. When you are fully present in the now, when you are embodied, whole and grounded, you are at your truest self. Let the intelligence of your body, your mind and the emotions of your heart inform you, awaken you, and guide you days.
How can you do this? How can we become true to yourself? How can you get linked to your Authentic Self?
By practicing journaling, breathing exercises and meditation.
These practices will remove the masks you tend to put on to be someone you are not. Be present as you are. Pay attention to your physical sensations. Observe your mind in the stillness and silence as you focus on your breath each day. Do not get entangled with any images or thoughts that may come up. Notice them and let them go. These are the most essential skills you are learning on your mindfulness journey.
Within you is a bud ready to sprout, a rock ready to transform into a diamond, or an egg with the magnificence of a peacock. Getting from where you are now to reaching your full potential is a matter of self-discipline, daily practice, and a targeted determination to become who you can or want to be. So what are you waiting for?
Prior to practicing body scan meditation, did you consciously think about your physical self? We don’t normally pay attention to our body until pain disrupts the flow of time. But keep in mind,
your body is your life. Without this sophisticated finely tuned miraculous machine, we do not exist. In fact, the first two months of our practice were only possible because we have our physical self. You could neither journal nor understand attention and awareness or meditate if we didn’t have a human body.

I have been paying attention to my physical self since I a teenager. Forty years later, I am vigilant about my body’s limitations. Nutrition, water intake, fresh air, and movement are vital to my mental and spiritual well-being.

I’ve been using your wisdom and it works. My heart, mind, body, self are unifying. My days are more peaceful with much less anxiety about tomorrow.

I love the diamond metaphor. I used to joke around that I’m a cubic zirconia, being that Diamond is my married name, but I am a diamond, and was instantly one the day I was born! Thank you, Madhu!

Lorraine, thank you for letting me know this. I’m never tired of listening to you saying how much less anxious you are now. Great progress!

Thanks for sharing your wellbeing with us! Nothing please me more than knowing about the effort someone puts in their physical/mental health. This self-attention reflects in your personality.
