Meditation, journaling, walking and creative practices are built one day at a time. We come out of the fog of living in the past and see how we are now and could become in the future. We move closer to our true self, witnessing ourselves in meditation, noticing our strengths, and discovering things we can improve while pouring out our thoughts and emotions in our journal.

You’ve come a long way at your own speed. And you continue to mindfully pace your creative and spiritual path. Think about the goals you have reached this year. Thanks to your practice, you are kinder to yourself, compassionate with others, and more forgiving, generous and filled with gratitude. Look around you, take a few deep breaths and be thankful for being HERE NOW. You have made sacrifices to be here. You have given up something to make this pilgrimage, to learn new skills and to unlearn unwanted habits. You did it! Pat yourself on the back!

How do you feel about your sacred space, your Spiritual Power Spot? How does it feel to sit there in stillness and silence? And when you do what do you experience? Are you glad you traveled all this way? Are there certain things that you’re still holding on to that you must let go? What must you shift in order to arrive at the center of your being? To be more like who you truly are?

Were you courageous enough to say “no” to some requests of your family and friends that did not align with your goals? That is enlightened audacity. Good for you!On this journey of self-discovery, there were and will continue to be bumps along the way. Don’t let them derail you. Each day is a fresh start. Take a few long and deep breaths, calm your mind, and fill your heart with kindness for the cultivation of compassion and wisdom. Then watch yourself bloom slowly but surely!

  • Your words and voice continue to guide me to my authentic self. Recently, while using eye masks, I’ve been listening to your Meditations for Mindful Writers to meditate. Thank you for helping me to sit still.

P.S. I wrote a comment on December 9th. Did you get it?

Good afternoon, Madhu! Thank you so much for teaching me the pillars of Writing Meditation Practice! I will use these tools to help calm and center me during the busy holiday season. Always, always needing practice while also always, always growing! Thank you!

For this holiday season, I’ve been keeping with my meditation, art, walking. I haven’t been derailed, which is great for mid-Dec. (journaling is intermittent… but done when I feel the need to process thoughts or vent.) I’m planning to stay calm, peaceful, meditative for the remainder of the holiday craziness and travel — but appreciate the reminder that each day is a fresh start – just in case I need a fresh start. Ha!
