The practitioners of mindfulness meditation who sits in silence and solitude elevate themselves as they realize what it means to live in the awareness of the present moment. When we are aware we are lifted beyond our fleeting emotions and thoughts—painful or cheerful. We feel serenity and true peace. We sense, I’m not my ego self. I’m awareness that is one with the awareness of all—always peaceful and joyful. We are one with our Authentic Self which is always here, now and awake.

What is a life of contemplation? It is to realize that we come to the world alone and we leave alone. Our solitude may be absolute but our life is as meaningful as we make it. Our feelings, thoughts, sensations, activities and relationships are fleeting; but our Authentic Self abides.

Those who neither know solitude nor life as lived in the present moment, free from past and future thinking, suffer from regrets and cravings. But those who experience solitude stay linked to awareness, to their Authentic Self.

For some time each day sit still to experience inner silence. Whether poor or wealthy, experiencing good times or going through difficult times, stillness and inner silence is always available deep within us, to elevate us above the circumstances, conditions or passing events.

You have decided to lead an authentic life, a creative and contemplative life, and this year you are doing something about it – you are walking on a path of spirituality and creativity. You have shown yourself that you are determined to be one with your Authentic Self. Because you see, you are either on the path to become a spiritual Self or you are not. There is no gray area.

My fleeting emotions and thoughts still swirl center stage many days — but other days are filled with self-awareness and inner peace. Daily practice is key!
