In the first month of this year we focused on “Mindfulness and Journaling.” You’re learning to converse with your Authentic Self. This Self knows you better than you know yourself. It never fails to lend its ear and points you toward the right direction. You may connect with it at any place, any time. It is your personal therapist, wise and kind.

The second month our focus was on, “Mindfulness, Attention and Awareness.” You are learning to differentiate between conceptual thought and deep awareness. We discussed how attention can be cultivated and how awareness rises when you stay embodied and live in the present. Attention on breath and being alive to the present moment is the beginning of the practice of mindfulness.

This month we are learning about, “Mindfulness and Meditation.” You are practicing Silent Meditation and Body Scan meditation. Sitting still in silence relaxes the body. A relaxed body results in a calm mind. How you feel in your body and mind affects your outer circumstances in important ways.

The sacred space within you that is slowly blossoming takes months, even years to form and develop. For now, the outer space you’ve designated for meditation and journaling is evolving into a significant space in your daily routine.

The journey you’re on is neither through the country nor around the world, or even to outer space. This is a spiritual journey. You are learning to go within yourself to connect with your Authentic Self and plant the seed of self-acceptance, self-trust and self-understanding. Witnessing your personal spiritual growth calms your mind and delights your heart. By the end of the year or two or more you will become one with your Authentic Self, your companion and mentor for life.

By now, I hope you have established your daily practice, missing a session once in a while will not stop the peaceful moments and serendipity that the practice brings.

Good morning, Madhu! It’s been several years now since I was introduced to your practice, and with each passing year it becomes harder and harder to remember just how unsure, anxious, and tightly wound I was before. Thank you for sharing your wisdom! Namaste

  • Good evening, Madhu! I am forever thankful for finding you and your group over five years ago.

Today, I played hooky to get caught up in life. It gave me time to enjoy a Day of Donna which meant, I got to do all the things in our Mindful Writers Practice at a pace that served my heart, body, soul, and mind which all led to a great writing day.

Fun Story: This afternoon, my daughter Cara brought her tortoise (Eddie Vedder) into our sunroom where he likes to walk around (sometimes for hours). Today, I meditated while watching this tortoise exercise while enjoying the warmth of the room. For 30 minutes, I focused on my breath while he walked with a light pitter-patter, climbed the sliding glass door sill, and slid off of it to repeat this over and over. Perhaps he was meditating too.

    Thank you, Madhu!

I’ve witnessed my personal growth and connection with myself. It’s a wonderful journey that I continue to nurture… thank you, Madhu for leading the way.
