Reflections
Inspiration
It is important to cultivate disciplines that lead to a mindful life. And it is equally important to adopt habits that reveal awe and wonder. You can design such a world for yourself. The first step is getting acquainted with creative arts. What style of music attracts you? Which visual art magnetizes you? Can you get lost in a book for hours? Do you love dancing? Which country would you like to travel to?
Whichever of your five senses is most sensitive, cultivate it further. Use it repeatedly or you’ll lose it. Once you know, practice to see or hear or do to hone it every day. Let your heart-mind drench in the aesthetic pleasure of your choosing.
Once your inner self is set on experiencing awe, begin preparing your outer world to be equally pleasurable. The people and places you encounter each day influence your path to awe. Be attentive. What is beneficial to you and what is not? Which individuals and spaces and events will help increase your sense of wonder and which won’t?
Be clear of your intentions and theirs. Remember, life is made of present moments. You make them happen. Whatever you pay attention to becomes your life. So, determine to do what you intend to do. When you respect your daily practice, you empower yourself to arrange your inner life, and with mindful living your outer life is shaped as well.
Tell yourself: “I want creativity and spirituality in my life. I will surrender to everything that feels right to my authentic self. When I see, hear, touch, taste, and smell things that matter to me, they become my inner reality. I can choose how I respond to things and people. My attitude matters! I will act upon my intention and live my life authentically. People I socialize with, books I read, arts I look at, music I listen to, places I visit matter. Whatever I put in my mind becomes my reality.”
Journal Prompt
What sort of changes are you going to make? What finer art would you add into your day that would make a difference?
Today’s Practice
Meditation: “Arriving Home”
Read, reflect, and journal.
Lorraine
My attitude matters. I’m putting great things in my mind and embracing the beauty in every day. I’m not allowing the minutiae and negativity- or even the real stressors of life – to get me in an anxious jumble as much as it used to. Life is good.
