Happy 2019!

Happy 2019!

Dear Readers and Writers,

I feel fortunate to have met you either in person or online. Allow me to shake your hand or wrap my arms around you to let you know how blessed I feel to be linked to you.

Hope this Holiday Season you bonded closer with family and friends, exchanged gifts of love and food, had warm conversations, and did things that made you feel good all over. And now after a week or more of haaya-bhanga (wonderful muddle), you need solitude. Time to floss and brush your brain. You already know that meditation, journaling and spending time in nature are life transforming practices.

2019 promises to be the year of learning, maturation and transformation. Wishing you all 2019 showered with health, joyous vitality and health!

Here are this year’s thaals from us and our daughters’ families.

Rice is sustenance; gold abundance. Milk and yogurt symbolize skill, time and patience required for any task to complete. Fruit and flowers celebrate fullness of life; dry fruit passing of time and maturation. Sugar, salt and spice signify inevitable feelings we experience through the year. And mirror for self-reflection.

This year I added a copy of the Constitution after rereading it.

I love to think on all these things! I would like to share one also. Last year my husband visited family at home in Uganda and brought us many packets of food stuffs back from there. We have been using them one by one. Yesterday I opened the packet of millet flour (for porridge) and made some. Yesterday’s was a bit lumpy but today I “got it” and it was so good! Made it with milk and added banana slices. SO GOOD! Millet is very nutritious – if you have never tried it, you are in for a treat!
